Downtown Asheville logged about 1.1 million non-resident visits in August, down 2.7% from August 2025.
The busiest day was Saturday, August 1. August saw the launch of the 60th season of Shindig on the Green at Pack Square Park, which ran every Saturday in August. AVL Sounds Fest also brought live music across Downtown August 6-9, and Downtown After 5 drew a crowd August 21. With several recurring events on the calendar most weekends, no single one drove the numbers, but the pattern shows steady turnout for Downtown's robust entertainment activities.
Saturday was consistently was the busiest day of the week, followed by Friday, while weekdays and Sunday stayed lower and flat. Activity held strong from midday through 8 PM rather than spiking late at night, pointing to Downtown's daytime and evening draw over later nightlife. Extended workforce was also down about 5% year over year.
August tracked with the rest of Asheville's summer: modestly down from last year, with the same reliable rhythm of Friday and Saturday programming drawing people back for fun on the weekends.
