Downtown Visitor Trends – April 2026
April brought steady spring activity to Downtown Asheville, with 374,200 visits, a slight decline (-3.4%) compared to 2024. This aligns with typical seasonal patterns, where visitation generally dips after March, easing into May before rebounding in June and July.
One of the clearest trends this month was the impact of event-driven weekends. The weekend of April 10–11 marked the highest visitation of the month, with 23,700 visits on Friday and 24,500 on Saturday. A full slate of events—including concerts, festivals, and cultural programming across the region—contributed to this spike, highlighting the role of coordinated activity in driving Downtown foot traffic.
Across the month, Saturdays were the busiest days, averaging 21,000 visits, while Mondays were the slowest, averaging 8,100 visits. This consistent weekly pattern reflects the continued importance of weekend visitation in supporting Downtown businesses.
Daily activity followed a familiar rhythm, with evening hours driving the most engagement. Visits peaked around 7 PM (5,200 visitors on average), while the lowest activity occurred mid-morning between 10–11 AM (2,700 visitors on average).
At the place level, the Grove Arcade was the most visited location in April, drawing 17,800 visitors and continuing to serve as a key anchor for Downtown activity.
April reinforces the importance of consistent programming and event density to sustain visitation between seasonal peaks. As Downtown moves toward summer, these insights help inform strategies to maintain strong foot traffic and support local businesses.
