The 2026 State of Downtown Asheville Survey Is Live — and We Want to Hear From You!

Downtown Asheville is shaped every day by the people who show up — business owners and employees, residents and property owners, visitors and longtime locals alike.

That’s why the Asheville Downtown Association (ADA) and Asheville Downtown Improvement District (ADID) are launching the 2026 State of Downtown Asheville Survey: a community-wide opportunity to share what’s working, what could be stronger, and where we should focus together in the year ahead.

Whether you come Downtown for work, errands, entertainment, or everyday life, your perspective matters.

Downtown is complex, and so are the challenges and opportunities that come with stewarding a vibrant city center.

This survey will help us:

  • Understand how people experience safety, cleanliness, mobility, and public spaces

  • Learn which ADA and ADID services are most helpful

  • Identify priorities for business support, events, and placemaking

  • Track changes over time so we can keep improving

  • Ground future investments and programs in real community input

It takes about 5–10 minutes to complete, and responses will be shared in aggregate at our upcoming State of Downtown event.

Who Should Take It?

If Downtown Asheville plays a role in your life, we want to hear from you.

That includes:

  • Business owners and operators

  • Downtown employees

  • Residents

  • Property owners and representatives

  • Visitors and customers

Each group experiences Downtown differently — and together those perspectives help paint a fuller picture.

What Happens Next?

After the survey closes, ADA and ADID will analyze the results and present key findings at our State of Downtown Asheville event, where we’ll:

  • Share trends and insights

  • Highlight what we’re hearing across different groups

  • Discuss how feedback will shape upcoming work

  • Invite conversation about next steps
