Jimmy X shares his insider's view of America's marijuana evolution from the1960s to the year 2020, based on more than 50 years working as a retail "apartment dealer" in New York City. What was once a secretive and criminal activity, pot smoking has become an open and everyday activity supplied by state-run dispensaries. Beginning as a teenager, Jimmy X describes the scene as weed and American pop culture grew and changed together.

“Jimmy X” (a pseudonym) spent more than five decades as a marijuana dealer in New York City, beginning in high school in 1967 and retiring in 2020, selling a total of nearly five tons. His anonymity preserves both his privacy and that of his longtime customers. How I Got You Your Ounce is his first book.
