On Thursday, March 10, the Asheville Downtown Association will announce the 2016 lineup for the 28th season of its Downtown After 5 Concert Series. Downtown After 5 is presented by Prestige Subaru and is held on the third Friday of the month May through September on North Lexington Avenue.
Following the lineup announcement at 7pm, local bands Raising Caine and the Jeff Thompson Band will perform. Local singer/songwriter, Jeff Thompson and his band will open the May 20 event. Part poet, part musician, Jeff’s New Orleans’ roots shine through when he’s on stage with hints of jazz and modern rock. Raising Caine will open the June show and brings together many longtime local musicians melding into a soulful sound.
The night is also the Asheville Downtown Association’s Volunteer Orientation. Anyone interested in volunteering for the ADA’s events should register here to attend the orientation from 6-7pm.
Volunteers are invited to remain for the concert at no charge. Otherwise, the cost is $5 at the door.
The kickoff is sponsored by: Prestige Subaru, The Orange Peel and Charlotte Street Computers.
