The Asheville Downtown Association Foundation is working with the South Slope Neighborhood Association to create a South Slope Mural Trail. The South Slope area is currently home to several murals and neighborhood businesses have committed to adding additional works of art. The project aims to curate murals into a self-guided tour of public art, sharing the inspiration and history behind the art and the artist.
According to Americans for the Arts: "Public art stimulates learning and thought about art and society, about our interconnected lives, and about the social sphere as a whole. Public art is uniquely accessible and enables people to experience art in the course of daily life, outside of museums or other cultural institutions."
We recently hired Jen Gordon as our South Slope Mural Trail Curator. For more information on the project, you can contact Jen.
