SoCon Basketball Overtime Party at the Grove Arcade

(Asheville, NC) – On March 7, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., it is Overtime. Grove Arcade is pleased to be a part of the Southern Conference Basketball Tournament and partner with the Asheville Buncombe Regional Sports Commission. Grove Arcade hosts the Overtime Party for students, alumni, and all fans of college basketball. This is a non-ticketed event. Food and drink will be available for purchase from a number of local restaurants, as well as Grove Arcade’s own restaurants and eateries. Many of Grove Arcade’s shops will stay open late. Along with the evening’s refreshments, the Folk Heritage Committee has a full line up of free music and dance that will cause basketball fans to shake, rattle, and pick and roll. Enter the Arcade at One Page Avenue for this event.

To enjoy the Overtime party refreshments, tokens may be purchased individually or in packages. Each token will be valued at $4. Local food and drink partners for Overtime are Santé Wine Bar + Tap Room, Modesto, Chorizo, True Confections, Tupelo Honey and Café, Chestnut and Corner Kitchen Catering, DOUGH, Ultimate Ice Cream, Pisgah Brewing, Wicked Weed Brewing, Oskar Blues Brewing, Nobel Cider, and Blue Blaze Soda Co.

The Folk Heritage Committee has put together a “Mini Shindig” for the evening with Glenn Bannerman as master of ceremonies. Bands include The Stoney Creek Boys, The Peg Twisters, Paul’s Creek, The New Broad River Band, George and Brooke Buckner, Honey Holler, Roger Howell and Friends, and Crooked Pine. This is a lot of music in one place on one night.

The Overtime Party at Grove Arcade is one of many events happening over the tournament weekend. “The Southern Conference is excited about the lineup of activities surrounding this year’s men’s and women’s basketball championships,” SoCon Senior Associate Commissioner Geoff Cabe said. “Asheville’s reputation as a destination location is well known, and these events will just add to the allure that the city will have that weekend for SoCon fans and alumni.” Come out and support Asheville and the downtown merchants that make this town a great place to be a SoCon sports fan.
