Asheville Music School is a nonprofit community school for anyone who wishes to study music. We’ve been making music since 1996, and now have over 400 students with 35 instructors teaching music lessons and classes every week. We are currently enrolling students from beginner to advanced skill levels for private lessons and/or group classes. Our students range from age four to young adult and those well into retirement. We teach all styles and levels and have at least three optional recitals a year in our own in-house performance space! In 2012 we started our first summer camp series, which gives students ensemble experience. Camps include jazz, chamber, pop, rock, and Suzuki Splash.

Since May of 2012 Asheville Music School and the Paul Thorpe Music Education Fund have awarded almost 100 scholarships to a wide range of young music students, and reached a diverse range of underserved youth and elderly through outreach music performances. With the Asheville Music School Sound Education music outreach program, youth reap all the personal, educational and social benefits inherent in music study and performance, but also experience the pride and satisfaction of contributing to the greater community: Bringing joy to the suffering, comfort to the lonely, and hope to the hopeless provides important life lessons to these students.
