We're celebrating our 30th anniversary this year! Downtown After 5, presented by Prestige Subaru, takes place the 3rd Friday of the month May-September on North Lexington Avenue near I240. Produced by the Asheville Downtown Association, it's free and features great music, local and regional brews, a kids area and food from local vendors. The first event is Friday, May 18 from 5-9pm.

Beer and wine is available for purchase, with a variety of local and regional options. To purchase alcohol, attendees will need to show a valid picture ID and buy a $2 wristband. Each summer the Asheville Downtown Association partners with five local nonprofits to sell wristbands at the event. Each group receives a grant of $2000. The ADA has given more than $100,000 to area nonprofits through this program. 2018 partners include: Asheville Youth Villages (May), Girls on the Run (June), Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNC (July) and Guardian Ad Litem of Buncombe County (August) and Asheville Museum of Science (September).
Lots of local beers on tap including: Pisgah Brewing, Sierra Nevada, Hi-Wire Brewing, Asheville Brewing Company, Catawba Brewing, Green Man Brewery and Bold Rock Cider. Plus local-adjacent: Appalachian Mountain Brewing, Boojum Brewing, Lo-Fi Brewing, Nantahala Brewing Company and Natty Greene’s Brewing. Beer list subject to change.
We're serving up plenty of local yumminess with food vendors: D.O.G.S., Gypsy Queen Cuisine, Kernel Mike's Kettle Corn, Moe's Original BBQ, The Grubbery Food Truck and Sunshine Sammies.
Downtown After 5 is committed to reducing its impact on the environment and features compostable food and beverage containers and staffed recycling and compost bins. Since implementing its greening initiative, the event has reduced the number of bags headed to the landfill to just a handful.
