Asheville Downtown Association celebrates volunteers, supporters at appreciation party

The Asheville Downtown Association hosted about 200 of the nonprofit’s volunteers, sponsors, board members and other supporters at an '80s-themed party at Urban Orchard on Saturday, Jan. 12. The gathering was held in celebration of a successful 2018 event season and included food from Olive Catering (plus donations from Earth Fare, Fresh Market and Nutz About Fudge); drinks donated by Sierra Nevada, Hi-Wire Brewing, and Urban Orchard; and live entertainment by DJ Kipper Schauer. ADA's main events for 2018 included Easter on the Green, the Downtown After 5 concert series, Pritchard Park Summer Series, the Ingles Independence Day Celebration, Asheville Oktoberfest and the Asheville Holiday Parade.

Roughly 337 people participated in ADA’s volunteer program during 2018, working a total of 1,535 shifts in roles like beer and wine service, water and soda sales, festival greening, backstage security, merchandise sales, setup, breakdown and guest check in. This amounts to thousands of hours donated. ADA is currently recruiting new volunteers for its 2019 season. Individuals, nonprofit groups and corporate groups are all welcome. Interested parties may email volunteer@ashevilledowntown.org.

ADA thanks Forge Mountain Photography for capturing highlights of the appreciation party at its photo booth. View the company's work at www.forgemountainphoto.com. Thanks also go to event partners Urban Orchard and all donors to our volunteer raffle.
