Accomplishments of The Asheville Downtown Association

We've had 20 years to rack up a list of accomplishments.
The following, just to name a few...

•  In order to encourage people to come downtown we began sponsoring Downtown After Five
summer street party events, now in its 20 th year. This event has played a major part
in the downtown revitalization effort.

•  The Asheville Downtown Association organizes bi-annual downtown clean up days.

•  We work with local, regional and national media to promote downtown as a destination. Downtown Asheville is the third largest tourist attraction in the region after the Biltmore
Estate and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

•  The Downtown Association organizes a Speakers Series, bringing authorities on retailing,
downtown revitalization and historical architecture to Asheville. These presentations are
free to our members.

•  We host the annual State of Downtown Luncheon and an annual membership meeting.

•  The association tackles social issues, such as graffiti and panhandling.

•  Each winter we sponsor a downtown Holiday Window Display Competition.

•  The association brings the downtown community together to discuss issues and to network.

•  We assist local arts and civic organizations through donations of time and money:
Cinema in the Park, Asheville Community Theater, Lexington Arts and Fun Festival,
to name a few.

•  The Asheville Downtown Association supports the Pack Square Conservancy efforts and
has made financial contributions to the project.

•  Members of the Association participate in and sponsor roundtable discussions with various opinion leaders, locally and throughout the state, on topics of interest.
