 Nouveau Night 2005
The Asheville Downtown Association's annual fundraiser, Nouveau Night, was held Thursday, November 17, at the Haywood Park Hotel Ballroom.
By celebrating on the 17th, Asheville joined in the global party circuit, as international events are held on this date to celebrate the new Beaujolais wines. This was the first year the Asheville Downtown Association held Nouveau Night on the actual official evening of the wines' unveiling.
“Having this event on Thursday – the true Nouveau Night – is helpful to downtown restaurants who have busy Friday evenings,” said Kim MacQueen, co-chair of the event with board member Hunt Mallet and volunteer Amy Wages. “Plus, we'll join in an international celebration.”
Nouveau Night is an elegant, social cocktail event featuring Beaujolais wines and fabulous foods prepared by twenty-one fine, local restaurants. As always, members of the Asheville Downtown Association received a three-day advance email notice to allow them to purchase tickets before they went on sale to the public. The event was a sell out, as always.
