Purl's Yarn Emporium offers yarn, tools, education, and community to knitters and crocheters. Owners, Elizabeth and Rik Schell, enjoy sharing their love of all things crafty, geeky, and fibery. We are known for being a welcoming place, for our crazy sock monkeys, our Dr. Who obsession, and quirky window displays. We are proud to be a Living Wage certified business, a participant in the Asheville Go Local program to benefit our schools, and a sponsor of Blue Ridge Pride and the Y.E.S. map.
OUR MISSION: "Every knitter knows that you can't make very much after only a couple of stitches; you need a whole needle full. Purl's is a needle full of stitches, a place for people to get knit together—to gather and swap yarns, patterns, and projects, to get and give advice and ideas. Purl's is proud to offer yarns that are beautiful, soft, and interesting, from around the world or just around the mountain—yarns with stories. If you've been knit together, frogged, or reworked (like all the rest of us)—come join us at Purl's Yarn Emporium, and you'll leave in stitches."
HISTORY: Purl's opened in the spring of 2005 on College Street with Lindsey Rey as its proprietor. Elizabeth & Rik Schell purchased the business in 2010 after moving to Asheville in 2008 from Brooklyn, NY.
