The Asheville Downtown Association will announce the lineup for the 26th season of Downtown After 5 Music Series (DA5), presented by Harmony Motors, on Wednesday, March 26 at The Orange Peel. 2013 series opener, Empire Strikes Brass, will perform.
This year’s announcement will be open to the public at the super low ticket price of just $5, with funds supporting the philanthropic work of the Asheville Downtown Association. Doors open to the public at 7pm, with the lineup announcement at 7:15pm and Empire Strikes Brass taking the stage at 7:30pm. Tickets will be available at The Orange Peel during box office hours and at the door.
Playing a high-energy blend of jazz, funk and rock, Empire Strikes Brass is a New Orleans 2nd line style brass band. ESB includes musicians from bands such as Squirrel Nut Zippers, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Firecracker Jazz Band, Common Foundation and Kung Fu Dynamite.
“We’ve put together an amazing lineup of bands for this season with many drawing recent national attention. We’re really stepping up the level of talent on the Downtown After 5 stage this year,” said event co-chair, Ben Colvin.
Downtown After 5 is always free and occurs the third Friday of the month from May through September on Lexington Avenue near the I240 overpass. Now in its 26th year, DA5 has featured the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Drivin’ N Cryin’, The Revivalists, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, The Black Lillies and more.
Downtown After 5 Music Series is a production of the Asheville Downtown Association, a nonprofit organization committed to the preservation and improvement of the central business district.
